Changing the business address online: what does that mean in practice?
If the business address of a company changes, this change must be filed with the commercial register. The filing can be prepared online and notarially certified online.

Important: A change of the business address is not a registered office relocation. If the registered office under the articles is to be changed, the shareholders must take part in the online appointment.

In a GmbH or UG, the management usually signs in a form that reflects its power of representation. Whether one managing director can act alone or several persons must take part depends on the rules on representation.
Business address, registered office relocation or company name change?
A change of the business address only concerns the specific address (street, house number, postcode), not the registered office of the company under its articles.
If the registered office set out in the articles of association is also to be changed, an amendment of the articles is required. An address change can be combined with other commercial register filings.
What does an online address change cost?
The notary’s fees are governed by statutory rules. For a simple address change without any further amendment of the articles, the statutory fees start at EUR 60 net.
